Jute stems are carefully bundled together and submerged in gentle, flowing water to separate the fibres from non-fibrous matter. Skilled women artisans from India then step in during the stripping phase, where the valuable jute fibres within the stem are preserved for the intricate weaving process.
Each basket is a testament to the artistry of handweaving, a labour-intensive craft that demands flawless rhythm and coordination. Despite facing stiff competition from power looms, this traditional craft remains deeply rooted in its heritage and provides livelihoods for more than 4.4 million weaver families.
 
Please note that our baskets are handwoven from natural jute fibres and cotton by these talented artisans. As a result, minor variations in patterns, colours, and appearances are an integral part of their unique charm.
